Although I'm not big on camping (as everyone knows), I was looking forward to spending a few days with everyone and watching Preston experience so many "firsts".
He caught his first fish, went canoeing for the first time, went to cavern caves for the first time, took a trip with friends for the first time, first time in Arkansas, first time exploring Hot Springs, first hotel fire-drill and first time camping for more than 1 night.
The watering hole near our camp sight was absolutely stunning and we all said we could have just played there the entire time. The kids loved it and how it was kind of like a beach was an unexpected nice surprise.
The canoeing trip was visually breath taking. Around every corner, the scenery kept getting more beautiful which helped considering the canoeing trip was nearing 5 hours long. Our first rapid, we got turned around and went down it backwards and then at another rapid, the water was a little shallow and we got stuck. Brent had to push us and nearly fell in the water when he slipped. It was a lot of fun thou and a great experience.
After the third night, I told Brent I was ready to go and asked that we not stay the last night at the camp sight but to head to a hotel and I'm so glad we headed out a little early because we ended up having the best time in Hot Springs. The rest of the crew stayed and a storm rolled through that night. Mindi and Levi and the Anderson's poor tents ended up getting rain inside them :(
Last minute, we decided to stay in Hot Springs and we had so much fun. We stayed at the historic Arlington Hotel and did all the tourist things there is to do which included touring Bath House Row, playing at the National Park and touching the hot spring, eating at a well known restaurant, grabbing a delicious cupcake from Fat Bottomed Girls and relaxing at the Spa indulging ourselves in the Bath experience.
On our way home, Natasha texted everyone and said they found a tick on William! WHAT! Then Mindi said she found one on Lucas and Logan and then Josh said he found one on himself and then Christine said she had one. I could not believe it. We checked and triple checked Preston and ourselves but luckily no ticks were found.
