June 2015

June has been a big month for Preston as he has accomplished many things this month...

1) He started sleeping along in his new room and new big boy bed (accompanied by his red car, blankie and stuffed animals of course)

2) Learned to swim on his own with his floaties on

3) Went to his first Rangers game

4) Went to Fossil Rim for the first time

5) Hasn't had an "accident" during the day or night for weeks

6) Knows Green means Go, Red means Stop and Yellow means Slow Down...Mommy

Preston is getting bigger and bigger by the minute and lately we have noticed how tall he is getting. He loves running around the center tree in the backyard especially when it has rained and its muddy. He's into monster trucks not only to play with but also to watch on the iPad. He has started to let us know that we are his "Best Buddies Ever, only boys can say "Oh Yea Yea", girls have to say "Ohhhh.

One of his favorite activities is throwing as many things into the pool as he can along with looking at his poop after each and every poo poo he takes. When he uses the potty, he likes to tell you to close the door "bit bit" which means, a little bit and then he will say "Stop".

When we drop him off at school, he tells us "you need to go to work Mommy/Daddy".

He brings so much joy to our lives and we wouldn't know what we would do without him!!

Swimming On His Own (With Floaties)

Preston loves playing in the pool but getting him to feel confident to swim around on his own with this floaties on has been a challenge. Up until this point, he needed to hang onto someone to feel comfortable to move around the pool but after getting a boost of confidence when he floated to Mal for a brief second, thats all it took for his confidence to sky rocket.
He learned how to push off the step and then kick his feet to get him to the other side. He did this routine over and over and it took a little while for him to discover and feel comfortable pushing off the other steps. But now he wants to go swimming every day and its fun to be able to watch him without always having to get in as well.

Way to go Preston!!!

Here he goes...on his own!

Fossil Rim Adventure

Brent finally had a Saturday kind of off so we wanted to take advantage of that time and do something fun with Preston. We thought he would love seeing the animals at Fossil Rim so we loaded up and headed out. We took our time making it through the park and by the end of the day, Preston had built up the courage to feed some of the animals from his hand. We all loved feeding the Giraffe's and Zebra's and feeling the fuzzy antlers on the deers. It was a fun day and we are looking forward to more days like these!

Big Boy Bed

Ok, so I have to admit, Preston has been sleeping in our bed for almost the past year...literally since July 4th of 2014 because the fireworks scared him so badly that he was terrified of sleeping in his room after that. It all started when we let him sleep in our bed for about a week after July 4th so he could feel comfortable again but after failed attempt after failed attempt to get him to sleep in his own room again, we gave up for a while and then it turned into almost a year.
Well, Brent finally decided one day to put Preston's big boy bed together in the treehouse room to see if that would help jump start him sleeping alone again. I didn't hold out much faith but after starting a whole new night time routine that included showering in the upstairs bathroom verses taking a bath in the downstairs bathroom, getting dressed for bed in his new room, picking out a night light (a motorcycle one) and reading a book in bed, he finally started to fall asleep alone in his bed and stayed in his bed all night.
The best part is now we get to put him to bed around 9:30pm instead of him staying up really late until we eventually go to bed. I love night time with my little big boy and the best part after reading him a book is we get to tuck him in, tell him we love him, kiss and hug him, tell him good night and to sleep tight and we will see him in the morning!!
He doesn't like to get under the covers when he first goes to bed so I have to come back later to cover him up but that is what makes Preston, Preston!!

He is truly our little big boy!!

First Rangers Baseball Game

It was $1 hot-dog night so Brent and I thought it was the perfect time to take Preston to his first Rangers Baseball Game. Brent was very excited to share this moment with his son and it ended up being a nice Wednesday summer evening. Preston fell asleep in the car on the way there only to wake up to see a huge baseball stadium starring right at him. He had no clue where he was but he was pretty intrigued to find out. We stood in line to buy our tickets while Preston continued to take in all the sights and sounds.

Walking into the stadium for the first time with him was pretty cool, seeing his face light up will be a memory we both will never forget. We made it to our seats and Preston was beginning to realize he was somewhere that had to do with baseball because we kept telling him he was at a baseball game. After getting settled into our seats, Brent made a quick run for food and drinks. He came back with lots of hot-dogs of course, garlic fries and soda. While we sat in our seats enjoying the game we also bought a bag of kettle popcorn (which he didn't really like) and a bag of cotton-candy for mommy.

After watching a few innings, we walked around the whole stadium and pointed out different things to Preston. Preston did end up finding the very tall escalators so we rode those to the top several times and boy did he LOVE that. We took in the city views from the top and then returned to our seats for a few more innings.

Unfortunately, the Rangers were loosing pretty bad so before leaving a few innings early, we stopped by the gift shop for a quick look before heading home. Brent really wanted Preston to try on a few hats but the boy just doesn't like hats. We tried several times but he just wasn't having it until he saw a hat that looked just like Daddy's and then all of a sudden he would try the hat on just long enough for us to take his picture. Then he reluctantly took a picture wearing the enormous red foam hat which turned out soo cute.

Go Rangers!!
