The weekend of
Preston’s 4th birthday was unusual for January as we had 70 degree
weather. We took full advantage and spent the day before Preston’s birthday
outside for a fun filled day. We started the day with lunch at Grimaldi’s for
pizza and salad and Preston had fun playing with the pizza dough the waitress
gave him. Then we loaded onto the Uptown trolley to ride through the city to
Klyde Warren Park. Because it was a little warm, snow cones sounded perfect.
Preston got a green one (lime) and Brent and I shared a red one (tigers blood).
It certainly hit the spot and then it was off to watch Preston play. He first
went up the tree house and then played a while on the big circle climbing thing
(no idea what its called). He kept telling me he “not give up” as he tired to
make his way to the top giving me a thumbs up along the way. Then he played
with 2 cars (McQueen & Race Car) by rolling them down the hill over and
over.
To end the day, we
spent the evening with Vicki and Dave grilling hot dogs out on the fire pit and
surprisingly, Preston wasn’t scared to be up close to the fire. We all enjoyed
our hot dogs and sides and then celebrated Preston’s birthday eve with some
cupcakes. Preston got a special cupcake that was green and had a minion on it..
We lit a candle and
sang “Happy Birthday” and with 4 years in the making, Preston FINALLY blew out
his birthday candle! Up until this point, he has always been terrified of fire
and birthday candles but not this year!
We sang silly songs
and told a couple of silly stories before roasting a few marshmallows for
smores. We had a great day and was ready to rest up so we could be ready to
celebrate Preston’s 4th Birthday the next day (January 31) at
Chuck-E-Cheese.
The big day had
finally arrived…Preston’s 4th Birthday! He had been waiting a couple
of months to celebrate his birthday at Chuck-E-Cheese and today was the day! We
arrived a little early but for the most part, Chuck-E-Cheese had everything
ready to go. We brought party favors and his cake and that was about it.
Upon arrival, Preston
was on a mission to play his favorite game…The Boat Game. There was a little
boy already playing it and Preston made sure to hoover over him until he could
quickly scoop in and sit down to play. Family and friends started to arrive and
it was time to start the party. The kids played for the first 30 minutes and
then it was time for pizza and drinks. After the kids ate, Chuck-E-Cheese
greeted all the birthday kids and we all sang “Happy Birthday”. Preston got to
blow out his “4” birthday candle and then we cut the yummy cookie cake. After
that to my surprise, Preston entered the ticket blaster but only with Jerod by
his side. In the end, they walked away with 500 extra tickets!!! The kids
played a few more rounds of games and then Preston excitedly got to open all
his gifts.
We are so blessed to
have such an amazing family and group of friends! Till next year!
