Preston's first T-Ball game was on Saturday, June 18, 2016 and Mal, Nana and Grandpa were able to come out and watch the cuteness unfold! Considering Preston and his team have only had 2 practices before their first game, I think the boys did pretty good. They listened very well to their coach and tried their hardest to do what they were told. They all caught on pretty quickly the concept of batting and running the bases but the outfield concept was a little harder. The main instruction was to get the ball and throw it to first base. So every time the other team bat the ball, every little boy ran as quickly as they could to the ball to get it and then try to remember what to do next. So it quickly became a wrestling match for the ball and the coach realizing what they should practice for next time.
The next couple of games went A LOT better than the first. They boys learned that if the ball comes to them, then they should get the ball and throw it to first base but if they ball goes closer to one of your teammates, let your teammate get the ball and throw it to first base. They learned to no longer wrestle over the ball but to work as a team!
Preston's 3rd game, he got to play first baseman and catcher when his team was in the outfield! He really liked playing first baseman because he got to interact with the ball each and every time. He liked catcher too but preferred first baseman.
Preston loves to run the bases as fast as he can and slide into each base EVERY time! He has gotten the nickname Rocket and he never fails to entertain his mommy and daddy and the crowd too. I love how he looks at me after he bats the ball and runs to first base. The coach said he needs to look towards first base but I'm not going to correct him, I love him wanting to look at me and seeing me cheering him on!!
Brent has done a fantastic job of coaching Preston and his team. He gets involved each and every game and practice and I am so proud of him.
T-Ball has been a lot of fun and I think Preston has really enjoyed it! Who knows where we will go from here!!
