Preston's First Week at Home!!

Preston arrived home for the first time on Thursday, February 2nd around 12pm after Brent and I were discharged from the hospital. We were so ready to take him home and begin our new journey together. Immediately after arriving home, we showed Preston his room and took a quick tour of the house. Brent ran out to get lunch for the 2 of us and when he got back, we realized Preston needed his diaper changed. We placed placed him on a towel in the living room and he gave Brent a big surprise...he peed right on him for the very first time and that wasn't going to be the last either. To my surprise Brent wasn't mad about it, he actually got very excited that his systems were working properly.

First Visitors
Preston was a popular guy when he came home as many people came over to see the little guy. Among the first were Ryan and Dusty. They kindly brought us a big Bundt Cake and motorcycle movie for Brent and Preston to watch together when Preston gets a little older. Brad and Jessie were the second to arrive and they couldn't wait to hold their little nephew. Preston got a little fussy and mommy had a little melt down but daddy made it all better by calming mommy down and taking charge. I couldn't have done it without Brent's support. He has done an amazing job and I think we make a great team together. Vicki and Dave were the next to come by and they bought dinner for all of us to enjoy. Lastly, Aunt Shelia stopped by to give us some really great advice and also brought dinner for us to have that night. By the end of the week, our refrigerator was completely stocked with food. We are so blessed to have such amazing people in our lives and family.

2 Day Appointment
Brent and I took Preston to his 2-day Appointment on Saturday February 4th and this was also our very first outing with Preston. Figuring out how much time it would take to get myself and Preston ready and out the door to be on time was quite different for me. I'm a really good planner and this took more time-management than I was expecting but we made it out on time and even arrived a minute early. Preston weighed 6 pounds 12 oz when we left the hospital and by his 2 day appointment, he was weighing in at 7 pounds 1 oz. His jaundice level was a 2 which is about as low as you can get which was music to our ears. The doctor answered all of our questions and then we were on our way back home. First victory for mom and dad!!!
