Porter House: Christmas with Vicki & Dave & At Home

Late Christmas Eve night after dinner with John and Kathy, we arrived at Vicki and Dave’s house to spend the night and wake up Christmas morning to a hot breakfast and tons of presents. Preston slept in the car on the way to their house so by the time we got there, he got a second wind of energy and was ready to play while all of us were ready to go to bed. Preston and I played with Brad and Jessie while Daddy got the pack-in-play all set up in the guest bedroom. Grandpa Dave and Grandma enjoyed Preston’s energy and got to play with him as well. Finally around 11:30pm, Preston was finally ready to go to bed so we got him in his pack-in-play and went to bed ourselves.

Preston and I were the first ones up at 7am which is unusual because in the past, Vicki had everyone up by 6am. This is thou, Grams and Peeps didn’t spend the night and everyone asked if they could sleep in this year. I guess Vicki got the hint and didn’t wake anyone up but I think Preston was able to wake everyone up for her. Grams and Peeps got there and by that time, everyone one up and at the breakfast table.

Preston enjoyed eating his dairy free, wheat free, soy free, nut free muffin on the floor while wearing his Santa outfit. Brad showed Preston how to push Grams’ walker all around and then Preston bit the floor when he slipped on his Santa pants. He recovered quickly and then the time had come….time to open PRESENTS.

I was so excited for Preston and couldn’t wait to see what he was going to get. Poor boy didn’t have very many toys and he needed Christmas so he could get a few new things. Grandpa Dave and Grandma got him the ball pit and he absolutely loved it. Brad and Jessie got him some ready books and new clothes and then got “Preston” actually Daddy a mini helicopter. That night when Daddy was flying it around the house, Preston wasn’t too sure about it and hung on tightly to me while he watched it very closely fly around the room.

After presents, we gathered up our things and headed over to Shelia and Steve’s for Christmas lunch. On our way there, it started to snow and I couldn’t have been happier. I absolutely could not believe it was turning out to be a white Christmas on Preston’s first Christmas. By the time we got done with lunch, the snow was sticky to the ground and we went outside briefly to let Preston see it and to take a few pictures. Preston got to meet his many cousins for the first time although they didn’t know what to make of him since they had never seen him before but nevertheless, they enjoyed meeting him and hopefully we will get to hang out with them more in the coming year.

When we finally got home from all the festivities, Brent and I enjoyed having Preston all to ourselves Christmas night. We started a fire and let Preston have a field day with all his new toys. It was a remarkable feeling to be in your own home, nice and warm and sit back to admire your family and all the blessings we have.
